Free Instagram Audit Tool

Enter your username and get a score out of 100, with the three changes that will help your account grow most. The audit reads your public profile and your recent posts, so there is nothing to log in to.

@

We read your public profile, your last 12 posts and your last 12 Reels. No login, and we never ask for your password. Private accounts cannot be checked.

What the audit checks

The audit looks at eight things and gives each one points. The points add up to your score out of 100.

CheckPointsWhat we look at
Engagement25Likes and comments on your last 12 posts, compared with accounts your size
Reels15How many of your recent posts are Reels
Posting15How many times a week you post
Profile15Your bio, your link and whether you use a professional account
Reel views10Average Reel views as a share of your followers
Last post10How long ago you last posted
Hashtags5How many hashtags you use, now that Instagram reads only 5
Comments5How many comments you get for every 100 likes

Engagement and Reel views are compared with 223 creators tracked by our sister company Sup, split by follower count. The rest of the score is our own checklist of the basics that help an account grow.

How to read your score

  • 85 to 100: Excellent. Your account is set up well. Keep posting and focus on reaching new people.
  • 70 to 84: Good. The basics are in place. The fixes at the top of your results will make the next jump.
  • 50 to 69: Needs work. One or two areas are holding you back. Start with the fix worth the most points.
  • Under 50: Weak. The account is not giving Instagram much to work with yet. Posting more often and adding Reels usually helps most.

Run the audit again a month after you make changes. Your data refreshes every few days, so the score moves as your habits change.

How to audit your Instagram account by hand

You can check the same things yourself in the Instagram app if you have a creator or business account.

  1. Open your profile and tap Professional dashboard.
  2. Look at accounts reached and accounts engaged for the last 30 days, and compare them with the 30 days before.
  3. Open Total followers to see your growth, your follows and your unfollows.
  4. Sort your content by reach to see which posts and Reels did best, and look for what they have in common.
  5. Read your bio as if you were a stranger. It should say who you help or what you post, and the link should work.

Our engagement calculator and best time to post checker go deeper on two of these checks.

What to do after your audit

Work on the fixes in the order the audit lists them, because they are sorted by the points you would gain. Change one or two things at a time so you can see what worked.

If you would like a team to do the growth work for you, that is what Sup Growth does. A person on our team engages by hand with real people in your niche and area, from your account, and new followers get a welcome message. Clients typically gain 300 to 800 real followers a month, and the first 14 days are free.

Once a month is enough for most accounts. That gives changes time to show up in your likes, comments and Reel views.

Engagement is 25 of the 100 points. Posting less than once a week, having no Reels or having an empty bio can pull the total down even when your posts do well.
